Welcome to the new Queensland Branch of the BGBAA web site. PDF Print E-mail
Updating the web page has been the first, and probably the most vital initiative the new QLD Committee has undertaken.  The Committee believes that by providing the Association with this forum many of its objectives will become more achievable.  It is our intention to provide Queensland breeders with a restored faith in the potential of the Queensland Branch.

Our belief is that the establishment of a current and functioning webpage will start to improve the communication between Committee and the members of the Association.  The web page will also serve as a means of communication between its members and hopefully start to overcome the geographical vastness of Queensland.  Displayed on the 'zones page' is a map of Queensland separated into strategic zones. This initiative is to provide all members with a representative of the Committee who will serve as a point of first contact between members and the Committee. It is anticipated that the representatives will make themselves as accessible, as possible to breeders in their allotted area.  These Committee members are local to these zones and will endeavour to attend events in these areas and remain aware of issues concerning its constituents.

This website also includes a 'classified section' to enable members to exchange stock and related articles.  This service will initially be free to all members but will in the future be available for a small fee.

Other features of the website include branch committee minutes, extensive History of the Breed, complete Breed Standards, as well as a 'self updateable' members' link page and a 'contact us' feature whereby members can more easily gain contact with their portfolio representatives.

It is also hoped that the development of this web site will provide the Queensland Branch with some much needed funds. Through the sale of advertising and through the improved merchandising of Queensland Branch paraphernalia we hope to secure sufficient revenue to implement other initiatives and further improve the Queensland Boer goat Industry. This goal is only achievable with the support of the members, and we look forward to the input of all those with an interest in the Queensland Boer Goat Industry.

With sufficient revenue, comes the ability to better package Queensland Boer goats nationally and internationally.  The world goat market is currently a thriving and vibrant industry and Queensland goats need to be show cased to the world thoroughly and effectively.

Keep a lookout for regular updates, newsflashes, upcoming shows and events, articles of interest as well as the inclusion of a Merchandise page and a Discussion forum.  We invite all members to contribute any upcoming events, shows or articles of interest to this website.

You have a dedicated and passionate Committee and we invite all members to get involved in making the Queensland Branch of BGBAA an Association to be proud of.  With the support of our members anything is achievable...

Thank you for your support.

Queensland Committee, BGBAA

Changes to Permanent Identification

18/06/2008

Dear Breeder,

For some years now breeders have been asking for an alternative to tattooing as a means of identifying Boer goats for registration and shows.

After much discussion and debate and opinions and research having taken place the Stud sub -committee presented a proposal, recommendation and motion on the permanent identification of animals for the Boards consideration at board meeting held 17/04/2008.
